Meet Ada: The robot inspiring the next generation of STEM apprentices

At CSR Scientific Training, we’ve always believed in preparing apprentices not just for today’s workplaces, but for the world of tomorrow. That’s why we’re proud to introduce Ada, the world’s most advanced humanoid robot into our Ofsted Outstanding apprenticeship programmes!

Ada, originally developed by UK robotics pioneer Engineered Arts and known as Ameca, has been described as the most lifelike humanoid robot ever created. With expressive communication, human-like facial gestures, and cutting-edge AI integration, she represents the very forefront of science and technology.

We’ve renamed her Ada in honour of Ada Lovelace, a true STEM pioneer and one of the world’s first computer programmers.

Why Ada matters for apprenticeships:

For our learners, Ada isn’t just a fascinating piece of engineering she’s a symbol of where science and technology are heading. By working with Ada, apprentices gain an early introduction to the type of AI x AB (artificial intelligence meets artificial body) interactions that will define the next era of science, healthcare, and digital innovation.

As our Director, Rob Green, explains:

“This is not just a demonstration of technology, it’s a statement of intent. Our apprentices deserve access to cutting-edge tools, and Ada gives them the chance to interact with the type of AI that will shape the world they’re training to work in.”

A tool for learning, a spark for curiosity:

Ada will be used across our science and healthcare programmes, helping apprentices build skills in machine learning, real-time data analysis, and human-computer interaction.

Beyond the classroom, she’ll appear at events, workshops, and community activities as a visible ambassador for STEM, sparking curiosity and breaking down barriers to science careers.

For employers, Ada is a powerful reminder of why apprenticeships matter: they create a pipeline of skilled, adaptable talent who are ready to thrive in industries that are constantly evolving.

For apprentices, she’s an invitation to think big, embrace innovation, and see themselves as part of a future that blends human expertise with technological advancement.

Building confidence, competence, and careers:

At CSR, our mission is to widen participation in science and technology and give every apprentice the opportunity to thrive. Ada embodies that mission not only as a marvel of engineering, but as an educational tool that challenges perceptions of what apprenticeships can achieve.

We can’t wait for our learners, employers, and partners to meet Ada. She’s here to inspire, to educate, and to help us all imagine the future of science together.
