Reflecting on her journey, Jorja said, “The apprenticeship has got me through the career door. I’ve gained valuable lab experience while earning a qualification. I’ve learnt skills that cross over directly into my job, which has been really useful, and the higher-level apprenticeship will take me further in my career.”
Jorja explained that the structure of the programme made a real difference. “The assignments were easy to understand, with clear criteria so I knew exactly what I needed to include to achieve a distinction. There was plenty of time to complete assignments, and I often handed mine in early. The apprenticeship has taught me so much. I’ve gained experience across multiple areas of my job and I’m now trained to use a wide variety of equipment.”
As part of her apprenticeship, Jorja took advantage of opportunities beyond her day-to-day work. “There have been lots of events I could take part in, such as the Science Museum and World Skills, as well as activities at work. These have helped me develop my skills even further.”
