Lauren recently completed her Level 4 Cardiorespiratory apprenticeship with an amazing DISTINCTION grade and reflected on how the programme has shaped both her skills and her career ambitions.
“The apprenticeship has helped me to build confidence throughout the duration of the course, as well as grow professionally through my improvement of clinical skills such as leadership and teamwork, and knowledge of the job to provide more in-depth testing to patients.”
Lauren has developed the ability to work more independently, performing patient tests autonomously and contributing to service improvements through audits, SOPs, and research activities.
She explained that the blend of structured teaching and practical experience gave her the opportunity to put theory into practice.
Lauren also spoke highly of the support she received during her programme.
Her tutor provided clear lessons, regular reviews with achievable goals, and ongoing guidance through email and OneFile. Alongside this, her line manager and fellow learners offered continuous encouragement throughout her journey.
“I have had the opportunity to perform tests on patients and become autonomous in this, as well as interpreting patient reports. I have also been able to work alongside other professionals within the hospital, such as the asthma team and sleep physiology, to gain background knowledge on how they function and contribute to the patient pathway.”
By the end of her apprenticeship, Lauren felt well prepared to take the next step in her career.
“This course has confirmed my future career and provided me with a strong foundation of knowledge and skills for the future and other careers I may work within.”
